If cost is of no concern I would recommend a Health Savings Account (HSA) Qualified plan.

1) $1,100 Deductible
2) $1,100 Max Out of Pocket
3) Rx Coverage is 100% after deductible
4) 100% Preventative / Wellness @ no cost to insured
5) Fund $2,850 into HSA
6) Gain additional $2,850 in tax deductions
7) Even if you exhaust your $1,100 deductible you have $1,750 left in your HSA to roll to next year
8) Can pay for dental co-pays with HSA tax free
9) Can pay for vision exams and materials tax free

I can go on and on - keep in mind its not the best "carrier" or "plan" its the provider network and plan design that make the best policy.

Use a local broker/agent to help you select the best plan for your area and make sure he/she offers you a PPO that gives you access to a nationwide network of doctors and hosptials.

Hope this helps!

It depends. If you submit your own claims, you can use the second dental insurance. In other words, say your dental work would have cost $1,000. With your discount program, the dentist actually charges, say, $700. If you pay the $700 to him and submit the claim for reimbursement, you will get whatever benefits you are due under the insurance.

Of course, it would be easier if the dentist would both give you the discount and submit the claim to the insurance company. Some dentists might do that, but I think a lot of them would say you are asking for too much, since he is not going to get as much from the insurance company as he would normally charge, and he is already giving you the discount. It doesn't hurt to ask, of course, but you should expect the dentist to decline that, and I wouldn't blame him.

Medical Discount Plan
ideal for those who cannot afford or qualify for traditional health insurance. The companies offer discounted health services for a quite low monthly fee. Benefits include a range of discounts for doctors, hospitals, dental, vision, prescriptions, vitamins, as well as other health services.

Individual & Family Health Plans
This is a major health insurance plan for individuals and families. If you are looking for comprehensive long term health insurance coverage for yourself and/or your family members who are 62 years old or younger - this is the plan to choose.

Short Term Medical Plans
This plan is ideal for individuals in transition. Maybe you have just graduated from college and are no longer covered under your student health insurance or you moved out on your own, and you're no longer covered under your parents' medical insurance plan. Or perhaps you're employed part-time, going to school, leaving home for the first time, or even retiring early. Maybe you've found a new job, but your new employer's group health insurance plan won't kick in until you've been with months.

You can find list of Dental insurance Companies here http://www.dixiloan.com/dental-insurance.html

discount dental plan says "the desist will charge you less for this procedure, but you still have to pay him"

dental insurance says "we will pay the dentist this much for his services, the rest is yours to pay"

Insurance is better if you can get it, but some dentists will allow you to use both. They charge you less with the discount plan, so the insurance has less to pay and allows you to have more work done before you hit the maximum the insurance will pay per year. Talk to the dentist or office workers about it. they should be able to provide you with the best information.

Dental Insurance, What is the best dental insurance in Florida?
I am 20 years old and in urgent need for dental insurance. Is there a separate insurance program for braces or will it be covered along with the basic dental care needs? Thank you, and I appreciate any help.

Yeah, your test scores aren't that good but you will be amazed at how they can go up with little work. If you put in a lot of work, your scores will increase for sure.

As stated, the fact that you have immediate family that went to OSU helps you out a ton. I would recommend taking several AP courses in the next 2 years. The difficulty of your schedule, along with your activity sheet will carry weight.

Although all those schools are big and have a lot of publicity, they aren't as selective as you think. What you should be looking into is how many people at each university is out of state. Since your in-state, thats also helping you out in getting to Ohio State.

Your not a shoe in to get into any of those colleges as of right now, but your definitely still eligible, just put in some hard work.

Goodluck.

I'm going to say bad deal. I pay about $20.00 a month for my dental plan through my job. The full premium is about 110.00 a month. I'm covered for all preventative services @ 100%... All charges for visits and xrays are covered @ 100%. Single tooth extraction is a copay of $40.00. Fillings are $10. $15. or $20. depending on which tooth...

Just my opinion. I work in health insurance, not dental...
good luck..

I could only do it by having my teeth fixed beforehand, in other words the dentist would only start the plan when he was satisfied that there was no work to be done.

Can I use one of those dental discount plans along with regular dental insurance?
My dental insurance maxes out at $1,000 per year. Can I also use a dental discount plan at the same time? Will one of them pick up part of the tab for where the other one left off? (Does that make sense?)

At least you have the discountplans figured out. Good for you.

Delta is selling individual plans in SOME states, so see if they have one for you. You will not generally find good dental insurance for individuals. The thing is, insurance companies are in BUSINESS and they want to make a PROFIT. They know exactly how much any given group is going to spend for their dental needs, so they construct a fee schedule for that group and decide how much premium that they will need to charge to pay out those fees for that group and still make money. Dental insurance can be a big loser for the insurance companies, because EVERYONE has dental problems. Not everyone has a heart attack.

The all have either a waiting period or a reduced benefit period for both basic and major dental work.

You have five options with dental.

1. Go without insurance. If you have good teeth and just want the basics you probably don't need any plan. A yearly cleaning and exam and even an occasional filling will cost you less without insurance.

2. Visit a local dental school. You can get many procedures done for a reduced price if you're willing to let them practice on you. You can find one here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/Dentalschools.html

3. Insurance - Depending upon the policy: cost $30-$60 per month. You pay a $50 deductible first, they have an annual maximum that they'll pay per year of $750 - $1500, they have a waiting period up to 18 months for major work and then you're paying 50% of the charges. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With insurance you pay $460 after paying 18 months of premium (around $800 or $900). Advantage - you can use any dentist with most plans.

4. Discount plans - Cost - $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With discount plans you pay around $827. Be very wary of these plans because most are scams. The people that sell these plans have little or no knowledge about health & dental insurance and do not need a license to sell them. The plans are not regulated by the state so you have no recourse when you have problems. Some states are starting to ban these plans from being sold. Here is an informative link http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/west/2006/11/22/74554.htm concerning these plans.

5. Fee for Service discount plans - Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example - average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404.

I'm an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?locationid=20349 specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

4. Discount plans – Cost – $5-$12 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Also, hardly any dentists will accept the plan and when they do you MIGHT get a 10% discount, which is about the same discount you can get by paying cash. Example – average cost for a root canal in my area is $919.

5. Fee for Service discount plans – Cost $7-$15 per month. No deductible, no annual maximum and no waiting periods. Many dentist will accept the plan (check providers first before signing up with any plan). When you use the plan there is a set fee that the dentist will charge you. Example – average cost for a root canal in my area is $919. With fee for service plans you pay as little as $404.

I’m an insurance agent and my personal plan is the fee for service plan. I got mine here http://www.dpbrokers.com/default.aspx?locationid=20349 specifically the Aetna Dental Access plan but which one you get depends upon your area and comparing the fee schedule to find the best for what you need covered.

You can't go out and buy an insurance policy and expect it to pay for your braces. Insurance companies must take in more than they pay out, and if you purchase a plan knowing you're going to get treatment - they will lose money.

Most dental offices offer payment plans for braces. If your case qualifies for Invisalign (and only a qualified dentist can tell you that), you might save money by going to a well trained general dentist instread of an orthodontist.

There are payment plans through finance companies such as Care Credit, but you'll need to have a job and good credit.

Maybe when you get out of University you'll be able to get a job to help pay for the treatment you want.

For discounted dental plans in the SF area, check out the Web page below. I don't actually know this company, but they seem to have a decent number of participating dentists.

http://dentalinsurance.dentalplans.com/sanfrancisco/index.html

As for dental schools, the University of the Pacific has its Dugoni dental school and clinic in San Fran. The number for the clinic is 415- 929-6501

The University of San Francisco actually operates two dental clinics. You can find out more their Web site:
http://dentistry.ucsf.edu/patients/patients_main.html

I hope this helps. Good luck!!

Discounted dental plan in Bay area?
I feel a wisdom tooth coming in and its bugging the crap out of me. I don't have dental through work or by any other means. Is there any programs that offer discounted plans? or does anyone know of any dentistry schools near the Bay that will take patients for a very cheap price. I am a full time student. Also my credit is not that great.

What university will you go to?

Some colleges will have group health insurance rates for students. It all depends on were you go. I buy health insurance with a group rate for all college students in the University of Hawaii system. It only costs $724 for the semester. That is cheap. IT does not include dental though. Where you go to school may be different, they may have dental, maybe not.

If you go to a University with a school for dentists, sometimes students can go there real cheap. You would have a student dentist working with an instructor. They would be learning on your teeth.
